What is astaxanthin?
Astaxanthin is the strongest natural antioxidant. Astaxanthin is a red carotenoid and belongs to the group of secondary plant substances. It occurs naturally in various algae, in particular the microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis, as well as in certain seafood such as salmon, shrimps and crabs.
How is our astaxanthin produced?
DR. HEILBRONNER astaxanthin is produced in the EU in controlled and certified photo-organic facilities from the microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis and with the purest spring water. This keeps our astaxanthin pure and free from environmental toxins.
Saw palmetto extract
Saw palmetto extract, which is obtained from the berries of the saw palmetto (Serenoa repens), also known as dwarf palm, contains several bioactive compounds:
- Fatty acids: saw palmetto contains a variety of fatty acids, including lauric acid, caprylic acid, myristic acid and palmitic acid.
- Phytosterols: a plant sterol, which includes β-sitosterol
- Flavonoids: an antioxidant
- Polysaccharides: complex carbohydrates
Cinnamon
Cinnamon, especially Ceylon cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) and cassia cinnamon (Cinnamomum cassia), contains a variety of bioactive compounds. The most important active ingredients include:
- Cinnamaldehyde: This is the main component of the essential oil in cinnamon and is responsible for the characteristic taste and smell.
- Coumarins: These compounds are present in higher concentrations in cassia cinnamon and can be toxic to the liver if consumed in excess. Ceylon cinnamon contains much lower amounts of coumarins.
- Flavonoids: Cinnamon contains various flavonoids
- Phenolic acids: Cinnamon is rich in phenolic acids, which include cinnamic acid and caffeic acid.
- Essential oils: In addition to cinnamaldehyde, cinnamon oil also contains other compounds such as eugenol, linalool and beta-caryophyllene
- Dietary fiber: Cinnamon contains soluble and insoluble fiber
- Minerals: Cinnamon is also a source of minerals such as manganese, calcium and iron.
Ginger
Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is a widely used spice and medicinal plant. The most important bioactive ingredients in ginger include
- Gingerol: This is the main constituent of fresh ginger and is responsible for its characteristic pungent flavor.
- Shogaol: This is another important active ingredient that is produced when ginger is dried or processed.
- Essential oils: Ginger contains a variety of essential oils. These include beta-phellandrene and citral.
- Vitamins and minerals: Ginger is a source of various vitamins (such as vitamin C and some B vitamins) and minerals (such as magnesium, manganese and potassium),
- Dietary fiber: Ginger also contains dietary fiber.
How should you take Astaxanthin SLIM + FIT capsules?
Recommendation: one capsule twice daily with food.
